One morning, a wealthy man sat in his balcony enjoying sunshine and his coffee when a little ant caught his eye which was going from one side to the other side of the balcony carrying a big leaf several times more than its size. The man watched it for more than an hour. He saw that the ant faced many obstacles during its journey, paused, took a diversion and then continued towards destination.

At one point the tiny creature came across a crack in the floor. It paused for a little while, analyzed and then laid the huge leaf over the crack, walked over the leaf, picked the leaf on the other side then continued its journey.

The man was captivated by the cleverness of the ant, one of God’s tiniest creatures. The incident left the man in awe and forced him to contemplate over the miracle of Creation. It showed the Greatness of the Creator. In front of his eyes there was this tiny creature of God, lacking in size yet equipped with a brain to analyze, contemplate, reason, explore, discover and overcome.

A while later the man saw that the creature had reached its destination – a tiny hole in the floor which was entrance to its underground dwelling. And it was at this point that the ant’s shortcoming that it shared with the man was revealed.
How could the ant carry into the tiny hole the large leaf that it had managed to carefully bring to the destination? It simply couldn't!

So the tiny creature, after all the painstaking and hard work and exercising great skills, overcoming all the difficulties along the way, just left behind the large leaf and went home empty-handed.

The ant had not thought about the end before it began its challenging journey and in the end the large leaf was nothing more than a burden to it. The creature had no option, but to leave it behind to reach its destination. The man learned a great lesson that day.

That is the truth about our lives too.

We worry about our family, we worry about our job, we worry about how to earn more money, we worry about where we should live,  what kind of vehicle to buy,  what kind of dresses to wear, what gadgets to upgrade......
only to abandon all these things when we reach our destination –
The Grave.

We don’t realize in our life’s journey that these are just burdens that we are carrying with utmost care and fear of losing them, only to find that at the end they are useless and we can’t take them in with us.....

A man was sitting quietly reading his paper one morning, peacefully enjoying himself, when his wife sneaks up behind him and whacks him on the back of his head with a huge frying pan.

Man: "Ow! What was that for?"
Wife: "What was that piece of paper in your pants pocket with the name Marylou written on it?"

Man: "Oh honey, remember two weeks ago when I went to the horse races? Marylou was the name of one of the horses I bet on."
The wife looked all satisfied, apologizes and begins to do work around the house.
Three days later, he’s sitting in his chair again, reading the newspaper. She whacks him with the frying pan once again, this time even harder than she did before.
Man: "OW!! What was that for this time?"
"Your horse just called."

Confidence without humility is arrogance. Humility is foundation of all the virtues. It is a sign of greatness. Humility does not mean self-demeaning behavior that would amount to belittling oneself. Sincere humility attracts but false humility detracts.

Many years ago, a rider came across some soldiers who were trying to move a heavy log without success. The corporal was standing by as the men struggled. The rider asked the corporal why he wasn't helping. The corporal replied, ``I am the corporal; I give orders.'' The rider dismounted, went up to the soldiers and helped them to lift the log. With his help, the log got moved. The rider quietly mounted his horse and went to the corporal and said, ``The next time your men need help, send for the commander-in-chief.'' After he left, the corporal and his men found out that the rider was George Washington.

The message is clear. Success and humility go hand in hand. When others blow your horn, the sound goes further. Just think about it. Simplicity and humility are two hallmarks of greatness.

When you were born, you cried while the whole world rejoiced. Live your life in such a way that when you die, the world cries while you rejoice.

“His name is Oresegun Olumide and he drew these … Do we need to go further looking for foreign artists? We have them here!” wrote another.
It was Chika Onyenezi, another fan, who had some of the kindest words for the artist, writing: “This artist is not just talented, he is a genius, a magician. Importantly, his art is alive.”
It is absolutely normal to gush about these works; what is abnormal is how long it has taken us to discover Oresegun. At 35, the Yaba College of Technology (YabaTech) graduate can count himself a late bloomer, but it is looking increasing likely that his rise to prominence over the coming months will be meteoric.
Perhaps feeling he hadn’t had the recognition he deserved, Oresegun wrote on Twitter in October 2013: “Why can’t someone hear that I am knocking.”
Not anymore. Henceforth, he will be heard when he knocks – not just by someone but by everyone, by the entire world. There is a new star on the horizon, and his name is… Olumide Oresegun!
